View Ports

In paper space with multi view ports. While moving from one view port to another I am experiencing all view ports change from the assigned scale to full extended view. In addition each time I freeze layers in a view port they are thawed when I re-open the drawing at a later time. Any suggestions as to how I can keep this from happening.

If I understand correctly, maybe something you are inadvertently doing
is changing your vport scale (maybe zooming in through the viewport?).
You might want to try locking the viewports with the following:
Command: -vports
Response: Specify corner of viewport or
[ON/OFF/Fit/Hideplot/Lock/Object/Polygonal/Restore/2/3/4] :
Type: L
Response: Viewport View Locking [ON/OFF]:
Type: ON
Response: Select objects:
Pick the viewport(s) that are changing and press ENTER when through; all
viewports picked will be locked at the scale you have previously set and
you can zoom all you want without fear of any scale changes due to
zooming through a viewport.

Second problem: Are these layers that are frozen and then thawing in
XREFed drawings? If so, type VISRETAIN and type 1 (one) to stop the
changing and RETAIN the VISibility you set.

VISRETAIN has solved the one problem but not the first one. Thank you. The drawing has an xref in model space. Paper space has multi view ports. Let us say View port 1, 2, and 3. All view ports are locked then you double click in view port number one, then move the curser over to view port number 2 and double click. View port number 1, 2, and 3 do a zoom extend. If I unlock the view ports and repeat the steps above only view ports 1 and 2 zoom extend. Here is where it gets interesting. If I double click in let us say view port number 1, then I double click somewhere in paper space, thus deactivating all view ports, then I double click in view port number 2 the scale view port does not change the scale factor and all is well.

Kudos,

Visretain was the command I needed. I tried it after freezing the layers I needed froze, then saved the drawing, then went back into the drawing and the layers were still locked.

Thanks a million.
