transparent hatch

I am applying solid color hatches to some areas on a plan. I would like
the hatch color to be somewhat transparent so that lines or images below can
be seen. Can I do this with AutoCAD?

Thanks for any help,

Huck

No. You will have to "send it back". That or use other pattern with super high density, which would bring your computer performance to its knees.

Huck, I do this a lot.
But all I do is use a light color (yellow for instance)
I also use ANSI31 @1.0 scale.
I simply tell it to "send to back" and everything under it should show up.

don't listen to that first guy.

Pick a color, then in set your plot setting to have that color screened- or you can change the object display settings to screened-

when plotting make sure that you have merge lines set

How does that help with his on-screen display?

for on-screen display you can use draworder.

And, isn't that exactly what the "first guy" said, that you said not to
listen to?

The "send to back" that toan76 posted IS the draworder command you just
mentioned.

May be that is what he intended, but his wording is somewhat unclear.

Can you be more clear about what part in my suggestion is unclear?

To start off with; there was only one question asked in the original message "Can I do this with AutoCAD?" and the first word in your message was "NO, you....."

"I would like the hatch color to be somewhat transparent so that lines or images below can be seen. Can I do this with AutoCAD?"
Does "do this" mean making "the (solid) hatch color to be somewhat transparent"?

AutoCAD doesn't support transparent solid color when display on the screen. So "No" is technically a correct answer to his question. The two methods I provided should be working for his purpose, but they are still workarounds.
