Tool Palette Problems

Hello,

We have created a couple of tags - Room tag and Door tag using some Property
Set Definitions and added them on our tool palettes in ADT 2006 where they
work fine. Now that we are migrating over to Architecture 2008, I've started
to create a new tool palette, but not sure how to put these tags on the tool
palette and have them hold the property set definitions. The person that
created the tool palette and tags has left and so did the knowledge of
placing the tags on the tool palette. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bodach

You need to ensure that you copy the PSD's from the original drawing
into the new 2008 drawing. The tools should work properly then.
Ideally you have these PSD's in the template .dwt you use to start a new
drawing.
The above is for customized tags and PSD's.
If they are not customized, why not use the OOTB 2008 tags?

Tool palette tools do not hold content, they hold pointers to content and some instructions for how to insert that content. Is the source file that held the content for your room and door tags in 2006 still available, and accessible to users when running 2008, or was that file deleted or moved when you upgraded to 2008?

If you have the 2006 source file and still need it for use by some still running 2006, I would suggest that at the very least you make a copy of the file, open the file in 2008 and save it, then recreate the tools. As Leo mentioned, make certain that the Property Set Definition(s) referenced by the tags are present in the source file, so that it(they) can be copied to the target file where you are doing the tagging, if it(they) does(do) not exist in the target file.

In 2008, you may also want to consider making the view block(s) behind the tag annotative, so that the tag becomes annotative.
