schedule openings

I like to remove the door thickness schedule data from my cased openings.
BTW, why does the cased opening even have a door thickness? Geez...

and the cased opening door style will not allow anything other than a
numeric value for the door thickness. Can I use an opening on the door
layer? I was hoping someone had run into this already.
