Proxy Graphics Begone

I'm setting up a template and I've got some machines w/o
some the civil arx program extension. They get a proxy
graphics dialogue when you open up the blank template. The
drawing was started from new no nothing. All I've added is
new text & line work. Nothing copied from another file.
Where are these elements which are generating the proxy
graphics coming from & how do I erase them?. Please help me
be lean and clean.

I had the exact same problem. The quick and easy way is to turn PROXYNOTICE to 0...if you think about it, why do you care if you have a few proxy dudes hanging around? But, the only way I know of to get rid of them if you really want to clean house is to download Superpurge at http://manusoft.com/Index.stm. Select a hard purge, and go hunting for them. That is the tough part, finding which entities are actually causing it. Some of them are apparent (it will list the app as civil) and some not so. You can also email Owen (maker of the software) and he will give you good hints as to which ones they are...and if youre really stuck, he will take a look at your file. Make sure you back up the templates first!!! Superpurge will allow you to do some ungodly things that will bring on the blue screen of death....

Happy hunting,
Tom K.

DON'T USE SUPERPURGE ON ADT DWG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Superpurge is a great program and will clean your Autocad dwg and your house
at the same time but it is too powerful and will delete some valuable
information that ADT uses. Unless an updated version has been implimented
for ADT I would not recommend or else you can kiss those dwg good bye.

As Tom recommended back up your file if you dare attempt this proceeder.

Rob, are you talking about not using SuperPurge at all on ADT drawings or the
HARD portion of SuperPurge?

How about explaining what you mean Rob, FULLY; I use SuperPurge (not Hard purge)
regularly and suffer no ill effects.

If the SuperPurge user reads the dialog alerts BEFORE allowing HARD purging,
there are no UNWANTED ill effects.

If I want an ADT2 drawing to be compatible with Microstation, I MUST use
SuperPurge w/ hard purge so Microstation can work with it.

Of course, I use CJ's SaveasR14 first, then SuperPurge!

Bob,

Superpuge does a fantastic job but......as a cad manager you leave yourself
open to people corrupting files that are not so smart or are too impatient
to read alerts. The program leaves too many holes for the not so
intelligent to kill a file.
Even with the alerts how does an end user know what they can or cannot
purge.????

I am only giving a word of caution before someone goes and does a hard purge
and BAM.

As I stated, I ONLY use the HARD purge portion when working with uSTn users,
and >> I << select only what is applicable to HARD purge >> only AFTER
SaveAsR14 <<

If you purchase the program, you should know what you are doing, or not use HARD
purge at all.

I realize that you were.

Bob, superpurge sounds good however, I still want the data. I am trying to translate from autocad to microstation and the proxy graphics/objects that aren't graphics just disapear, and I lose them in the translation. Is there a way to convert/explode/or merge the data so when I translate I actually get what is shown in the autocad file?
