Orphaned XREFS

What is an orphaned xref and why is it not anywhere in the help files?

I believe an "orphaned" xref is one that has been moved to another file/folder but has not had its path changed in the drawing. -- Stan Plesnarski, MBA Project Manager Muhlenberg/Greene Architects, Ltd. Orphaned xrefs are nested xrefs, that the parent xref cannot be located: DWG file ---> Xref in DWG file----> (parent xref) Xref in Xref----> Orphaned because Xref in DWG cannot be found, is unloaded, or has been deleted/renamed/etc. Make sense?
