Never Upgrade to a major New release

The experiences I am having with ADT 2007 reminds me of why one should never
upgrade to a major new release of any software until at least the 1st or 2nd
Service pack has been released. Those of us who like the cutting edge are
destined to bleed the most.

They have alpha and beta testing before releasing the product. The period between then and the service pack is just another period of testing I refer to as 'delta testing'.

What are the issues so the rest of us don't have to suffer.

Did you do a clean installation, or did you try to run over the top of an old ADT install?

We did clean installs and have found it quite stable. Maybe more so than 2006.

Here´s my opinion

1. I have some crashes, but only when opening files from previous versions
(3.3 and 2004 formats).
2. Saving a 2007 file in 2004 format, is a myth. Most of the times, the
drawings became unreadable. If you work with people that use old versions of
Autocad, be very careful and think twice before starting you project in
ADT2007.

I don't even know why they let you do this in ADT. I have not had it work
once. The drawings are junk. I would seem that they could make this work.
They alter the new AEC objects to make them like the old aec objects, slabs
loose their components as an example, but everything else just moves back to
a 2004 version. It wouldn't be that hard and it would make upgrading much
less painful for us.

we did a clean install this time vs. installing over the prior version and I've had little to no problems. sure a few kinks here and there but nothing to write home about. i actually have been pleased with the adt 07 release. stair tool is wicked and worth the upgrade and time to get running right. might try starting from a completely clean slate and see if you have some better luck. - terry

We actually did full re-insalls of windows prior to installing 2007.

Windows all on its own has a habit of getting buggy after being in service for too long.

sounds like you need to change harware as well. We use the HP workstations and with decent hardware we have very few problems with windows or ADT.

I'm the guy with no problems...

Clean installs always produce the fewest problems was my point.
