Laser Distance Measurer

I am looking into getting a Laser Distance Measurer. I'm hoping it will help me with the larger Mill Redevelopment projects. At my initial site walk there is typically little to no power or light, the buildings usually range from 100 to 400 feet in length.

Does anyone here use any of these type of devices, If so how accurate are they, do they work in low light, and what model/brand.

I use one freguently since 40% of my work is remodeling existing buildings.

THe model I use is the Fat Max by Stanley.  It seems to be more accurate than I can do manually.  It works even better in low light.  The only time it doesn't work is hightly reflective surfaces and in direct sun light.

How much do you want to spend to ensure absolute accuracy, and do you need it to help with drafting afterwards through software? Start a Google search and use the term DISTO DEVICES and explore what the "good stuff" out there costs and can do.

My company Williams Design is introducing to the American market the Innodraw Laser Measuring system. As of now, the measures would be conducted by a Licensed specialist for fee. The Technolgy would allow a complete laser-based measure of the room, house, built site, what have you, The resulting data file would then be immediately converted to a working DWG file for AutoCad import.

The options for firms with enough work to purchase the system could be considered. But the firm would have take on considerable expertise to learn the system, software, and conversion process. I can share what info I have to date. And would also appreciate comment on what existing technologies are out there and market for this kind of service. 

It would mean an end to inputting all the existing dimensions into AutoCad and eliminating the need to use the manual measuring devices-tape measure.

My field is Kitchen and Bath Design, but I am wondering what the larger Architectural community thinks here.
