dramatic file size increase when using ADT 2002 files in ADT 2004

ADT 2004 takes about 5 minutes to open a file from ADT 2002. Once opened, speed performance is reduced and wall object hatch becomes very dense. When object layers are turned off performance is fine. Upon saving, which takes about 10 min, it turns my 10MB ADT 2002 file into an unruly 500MB file. Any advice would be appreciated.

I try to keep wall hatching on a seperate layer and
delete it on files sent to consultants.

They don't usually want hatching
anyway.

I think the wall hatch is probably
exploded to get to A2002 which gives you the extra size.

Also file sizes are more efficient in ADT4 (and I
think so may hatches be).

All that said you're getting a heck on an
increase.

You may want to look at

face=Arial size=2>, which covers a known issues that will cause drawings to open
slowly in Arch Desktop 2004.
