DESPERATELY Need to understand xrefs and display manager!!

I am coming down to the wire here--putting the last few files together in
sheets.

Per my previous post, I need understand why I can get a file looking just
the way I want in one file and then it changes when I xref it into another.

Does it have to do with using the "standard" style of an object?

What about the system default level of the display props vs. style level?

Thanks for your help.

OK, I understand one more thing--If I create a custom display rep in one
file, I have to create that same display rep in the "master" file. That
seems to help. Sound right?

Now you're on the right track... "ideally" you would have all of this stuff setup before you started drawings... if you have to make display changes that would affect drawings on a global scale you're pretty much hosed. So far we have decided to use the Display Manager very little. We are defining many more layers than we would typically use so that we can control things in a manner that everyone is comfortable with and that will allow for changes via script/lsp/vba. About the only thing we've got that we use a Display Config for is the DD/DD Poche reps. Typically those are isolated and changes to them are easier to make.

you can copy display reps from one dwg to another.
