ADT 2007 problems

Hi everyone

This is a problem that has been occurring for our users over the past few months and is quite peculiar!

When opening up a drawing whether the drawing is on the network or on the desktop it takes around 1 minute to open. If we unplug or disable the network, no problems. We then have a particular user (who has exactly the same security rights) who opens the drawing on both the network and desktop on the same computer and has no problems! The computers that we are using are only 1 month old and are Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz, 4gb ram and 2 x 512mb ATI X1950 graphics cards. We have Dual core PC's of the same ram spec and graphics cards with the same problems.

Can anyone help???

Thanks

Simon

Check the search paths on the machine for that user, sound like there could
be a "broken shortcut" somewhere in one of the search paths.

Hi

Thanks for your reply

I went to format and options and looked in all the directories there and nothing was out of place, is this where you meant?? If it was, is there anywhere else i need to look?

I have seen a Add-A-Plotter wizard in the printers directory cause problems.

This has never been used as the printers have been setup previously. All our users have the same problem and all of them wouldn't of run the wizard

Using it is not the issue, it just being there is the issue, I have seen
this wizard, which has pointed to a location that does not exist cause Acad
to "spin it wheels" trying to resolve the location till it times out, thus
the lag. Seen this in ADT06, do not know if they fixed in 07.

just a another thought..see what the default plotter is for your dwg
template. we had an issue where the plotter that was set in the
template dwg was one we no longer had, so every file we made had this
old network plotter set as default, and it would slow down because it
was searching for it.

We have had the same plotter for over 5 years now, so i don't believe that could be the problem!

Go to the folder where the Add-a-Plotter wizard is located and delete it.

Are all the PC's printer search paths set to look at this on PC?? I had the
wizard in a network shared folder that all had access too.

Not as far as i'm aware they are not. Even when i restored the wizard from the recycle bin the PC is still going at a normal speed, so this is very weird!
