ADT 2006 - Curtain Wall Units vs. D/W Assemblies

I'm trying to decide if there is any reason to use Curtain Wall Units.
It seems the Door/Window Assemblies are more versatile. I can nest a
door within a DWA then nest that in a Curtain Wall, and I can't do that
with Curtain Wall Units. Is there something I am missing regarding CW
Units? Is there anything they offer that DWA's do not?

You are not missing anything. You can do more with an Assembly than a CW
Unit.

this post just caught my eye, guys...

so why not just have the one entity for DWA and CW with a checkbox to toggle
'act within wall' vs 'act as a wall'??

Don't use CWU's if you have to create an IFC transfer file, they are not
supported by IFC, not even in the latest update. This might be an
unlikely occurrence for many, but we were warned about this problem as
we were required to deliver a BIM model created with ADT2006 in IFC format.

Good question. One I often wonder myself.
