Our company is looking at purchasing the Building design suite mainly for ASD. A few things that we are wondering with ASD.
1. It looks like ASD is pretty good at doing bolted connections. Does anyone use it to do welded connections?
2. We mainly use Inventor here. Is it possible to bring the ASD 3D models into Inventor? They would probably come in as a "dumb" solid, but that may be better than nothing at all.
I really wish that AD would build a structural detailing add-in for Inventor. That would be great, but until then, we will have to look for other ways to do this.
Thanks,
Kirk
I can mention theses aspects in brief:
1) Yes, ASD also does the welded connections.
Most of automatic connections are optional as welded or bolted.
You can also define manual weld on contact line or weld around on contact area.
2) ASD to Inventor migration is not perfect for Inventor users cause it is only possible by ACIS model not containing all ASD structural data and conditions.
Generally ASD model to Inventor route is not direct which is not an integraton kind.
