Is AutoCAD Structural Steel 2012 a stand alone program?

Is AutoCAD Structural Steel 2012 a stand alone program, or an add-on program to AutoCAD 2012?  I am looking to get this, but I am not sure if I have to purchase this, along with AutoCAD, or if this will work on its own.

ASD is integrated with AutoCAD. After installing ASD 2 shortcuts are available: ASD and pure AutoCAD.

As concerns purchasing ASD 2012 cannot be purchased alone - it is contained only in some Suites: Revit Structure Suite, Building Design Suite, Plant Design Suite Premium.

OK, so if I were to purchase the Revit Structure suite, with ASD, then I would not need to have a new version of AutoCAD (2012 for example) for it to work properly?
