How to view an ASD model in AutoCAD

I am trying to view the created ASD models in standard AutoCAD.

My client uses standard AutoCAD to do his overall interface checking on Projects. All my ASD models are not viewable in standard AutoCAD as all the profiles show up as missing components. Any idea how to get them exported even as 3D solids or anything just so we can put it in the master model.

Its rather sad that i actually lost the last shop detailing job to a guy running StruCAD as the client prefers it.

Why you ask, You can actually get an NON Autodesk file to export to ,dwg and open in AutoCAD easier than an actual Autodesk product.

Its actaully imbarasing how little attention Autodesk pay to most of these packages and the interface between them.

There is an option suitable for you , even two .

1. You can export your model into ACIS solids .(Check the attachment)

2. There is an ASD object enabler for Autocad 2013 , which your client can use , but I haven't tried it , so I don't know how useful it is .

Don't be too quick to judge Autodesk or anyone else for things you're not sure of .

Well i must admit that we dont get any support for ASD in south africa.

Autodesk is quick to sell you the products and then you never get any feedback ir support, they are just good at giving you a ticket number.

I have tried the options listed above.

The ACIS solids leaves behind most of the info and i cant seem to get the object enabler to work.

We have tried 2011 to 2013 but it still just shows the profiles as white sqaure blocks with the profile name in each corner.

ASD Object Enabler should be installed not on the machine with ASD but on the machine where ASD is not installed and where only pure AutoCAD or any AutoCAD vertical different than ASD is installed .

Object Enablers for ASD 2013 in 32- or 64-bit version can be downloaded from for instance this site:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=18968562&linkID=14116968

or this site:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=18968562&linkID=9240618

Has your client successfully installed appropriate version of ASD Object Enabler?

The Client is running AutoCAD 2012 products.

They had the object enablers installed but I did not do this myself so can comment if they did it correctly.

I will however ask him to verify this or get in touch with his IT department.

We don't have standard vanilla licenses so I cannot check this myself.

Can  you send me one example of your ASD file to check it in vanilla AutoCAD environment?
