I think there is only one method to rename Cut symbol or Detail symbol  - Object Inspector. I highlite Cut (Detail) name, Double click, enter new name, Enter button. Cut symbol name changes, Detail name - does not.

RENAME command? otherwise it would appear Autodesk doesn't want you to rename their provided content.

If I'm understanding correectly, andmail wants to wants to rename the cut, not any Autodesk content. Therefore on the dimension drawing you would see cut B-B rather than A-A, for example.

If that's the case, the cut should be able to be renamed. I've done it before. Most of the time I just make manual cut symbols in paper space because I don't like ASD's cut symbols.

It's very simple to create single profile, then create one detail view on it.

Then try to rename. Detail VIEW NAME will be changed, but its SYMBOL doesnot 😞

I think this is not right, is not it?

With CUTS there is no problems. VIEW NAME and its SYMBOL will be rename.

Now I see only two solutions:

1) Manual creation the detail symbols

2) Re-creation detail view with the new name )
