saving raster file

I am trying to save a "hybrid" drawing - dwg+mil file.
but the mil file will only save in its original directory, not to a file copied to a different location.

where are the settings in AutoCAD to choose where the attached file gets saved?

Raster saves the file in the directory it was loaded from.
You need to attach from the directory where you want to save it.
