ECW insert locks up ACAD/ARD 2008

Using AutoCAD Land Companion Enabled Map 2008, and Raster
Design 2008, I use the ._IINSERT command from Raster Design
to insert and transform (from UTM83-14 to TX83-SCF) an .ECW
image and AutoCAD just hangs up. You have to use the Task
Manager to end the task.

Repeat the same thing using the 2006 versions of these
applications and the same image inserts almost instantly.

In 2008, if you do not transform the image, it works just
fine also.

On the Transform tab, select "3 point affine" as the Transform type.
That is equivalent to the old behavior.

ECW files are now editable in RD2008, which means you are
allowed to do a "True (pixel by pixel)" transform. For a large
ECW, that is not practical or desirable (even if you had enough
memory to perform the transform, you'd have to save the result
to a new image).

Thanks Matt.

Feedback: When you guys change defaults like this, some sort
of notice would be helpful to the end user.

A progress bar, an estimated time, a warning that "this
could take several hours", something....

Thanks again....
