Who still uses ACAD 12??

Hi,

I'm surprised people are still using ACAD 12..or that Autodesk even still allows a help group for it! Still....I do miss it. A few years ago, I had freelance work to do at home..And I didn't have R14 or R2000. Then, on a group of 10 3.5 disks, I found an old version of R12. On a fast computer, everything loaded in a flash, it worked so fast! The macro buttons with the letters only were also a real flashback. And most of the commands were still there. Just no tabs of course.

Is it possible to find older versions out there, like ACAD 10, or even earlier? My first version was ACAD10.

Do people still use ACAD12, the same way that there are still people who swear by vinyl records...and eight track cassettes??

Yes, I use R12 DOS as my main production platform on a '98SE machine.
1.8GH AMD chip and 512 MB Ram makes R12 a hot rod.

I am having problems with the new hardware. Windows 98 drivers aren't
up to speed and XPs DOS is severely lacking when it comes to the PHARLAP
DOS Extender.

I wouldn't try either R10 or R11 as they weren't all that hot with
Windows memory managers and both were a bit flaky themselves.

2.62 was very stable and great for laptops that didn't have much
hardware. I still use a P133 Acer for field dimensions and it would be
nice to have a very small compact CAD program on it.

I don't think you will find any legit stuff out there 'cause no one is
supporting it and reselling has been severely limited.

Vinyl and 8 tracks never were great technologies, R12 was. -David

We still have 1 install of R12 for compatibility with an old program. It's
used for a minute or 2 once or twice a week.

I started with Autocad Version 2.6 in 1985 and although I have Acad 2004, I
still use R-12 for dos as my main production workstation.
