I created my own pipes, fittings, valves catalogs, a big portion is block based parts. But in the beginning I didn't create the same name folders with the catalogs. Without these folders, catalogs and specs works well. I finished a watertreatment project with them already.
But when I copy these catalogs(pcat) and specs to another computer and place models into the model, I get error message "Can't find symbol for specified part."
My problems are:
1. Without 200 and dwg folders, where are "longhexnumber" blocks and thumbnail pictures stored?
2. How can I copy catalogs to other computers ?
3. How can I get into the right way? After so many custom block based parts created without 200 and dwg folder, I tried create a same name folder with the catalog. But when I make new block based parts, it cannot work. If I place new parts to model, I get "Can't find symbol for specified part." The newly created part on the tool pallete was a blank box.
Recreate all block based parts are nightmare. Why no prompt when i was in a wrong way?
Anyone can help me? Thanks.
I use P3D 2012.
Have a look through the sub-folders of the Content folder from your C:\, and compare it to the second computer.
You can move that content to a network drive also, check under the Menu's, there is a menu to change the path.
I copied the whole folder "C:\Autocad Plant 3D content" to another computer. The folder in destination computer is also "C:\Autocad Plant 3D content". I checked two computers in Spec Editor menu, the shared content folder were both "C:\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2012 Content".
Below is my folder structure:
Catalogs are in "\CPak GB":
My drawing with blocks are in "\Models".
I searched for the longhexnumer drawings throughout the C:\Autocad Plant 3D contens folder. Nothing was found.
Where is they? Why it works well in modeling pipe without longhexnumber drawings and 200 and dwg folder?
