I have tried uninstalling plant3d completely (deleting folders) and then reinstalling with no success, I am running windows 7 64bit.

Have you tried doing a clean uninstall as per the below procedure,

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2887771&linkID=14116967

Also you may want to remove all the .NET applications and allow the Plant 3D installer to run the one that's needed for yours. Its version 4.0. Later you could install other versions based on your other software requirements.

Do let me know, if the problem persists after .NET reinstall.

Thanks,

That seems to have fixed the problem, it must have been .net 4.5. Thanks for the quick response.

I've been getting this message in both 2014 and 2016. I don't think its specific to my install of Plant3D since it would be weird to have it affect both 2014 and 2016. This suggests to me that its more of an issue where windows is bonking out as opposed to Plant.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled .NET multiple times and it still crashes every time I try to make a new component.

Have there been any whitepages about how to fix this issue?
