Sanitary tri-clamp fittings catalog

For me to consider purchasing Plant 3D, I must be able to use sanitary fittings (ie: Tri-Clamp od tube, 95% of fittings used in my designs). Since you will not have in initial release; how difficult would it be for me to create myself with 3D solids I currently posses? Secondly, when do you forsee sanitary fittings being added into a future release?
Thanks, Steve

Steve,

It might be difficult to do this with the first release. We haven't
provided tools for adding new component types yet.

Hi!

I have a fully developed P3D catalogue with ASME BPE fittings (tri-clamp) and valves.

I configured the project settings and set up the catalogue entirely myself.

I design bioreactors, that is why I use aseptic fittings.

Unfortunately I can not share with you my catalogue, but I can tell you how to do that If you are interested in.

There is an ASME BPE ,Alfa Laval and Swagelok catalog available through Plant Exchange (http://ht.ly/cIOyb).

Look for Pharma (http://autocad.autodesk.com/?autodownload=../secure/protected/Pharma-Cpack.zip)

The piping catalogs have been moved to the app store. You can find the BPE catalog here:

Does this catalog contain the Bevel Seat style of fittings and connectors?

How can this catalog be obtained?

Thank you

Bruce,

You might consider putting the catalog on the Plant Exchange App Store http://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/PLNT3D/en/Home/Index

Peter

the lack of Bevel Seat fittings and multiport valves with BW, TC, end  conditions is preventing the company I work for from adopting Plant Design Suite for our food processing and dairy projects. we would like to switch from AutoPlant for these projects.

regards

Roby

You'll need a piping spec. There might be a sample to play with in the content pack, I don't know that content pack. Otherwise, use the catalog in the content pack to build a spec using the Specs and Catalog Editor.

Hi Dharmaraj,

Of course! But you also have to change project settings (connection types, etc...). I will put here my method, but I need some time to write the step-by-step descriptions. I will be back!

So here is how I did:

1. Project settings: Plant 3D DWG settings / Piping connection settings

I changed the Flanged connection to Tri-clamp. Remove the bolt set from the fasteners and add clamp instead.

So actually I sacrifised the flange connection to clamp, but you can create a new one.

2.JPG

Remove the pressure class and facing from the property matches.

In the compound joints in the autoflange: Remove the pressure class and facing restrictions.

3.JPG

And set up according to this:

4.JPG

2.Create a ferrule and gasket:

In the Spec Editor you need to open a pipes and fittings calatog and create or copy a flange component:

In the General Poperties / Connection port properties the end type is FL

5.JPG

Same with the gasket but: The gasket end type is Undefinied_ET.

3.Create the clamp:

In a custom parts catalog copy a clamp and change to tri-clamp:

6.JPG

The end type is Universal_ET.

It is also possible to replace the default clamp geometry to real tri clamp.

This is how it looks when everything works:

8.JPG

Roughly that is how you can start in nutshell.

Of course this was a quick trainig. If you have further question let me know.
