PUP Lengths

IS there a way to automatically display the PUP length of a pipe on an ISO. PUP length being the length of pipe between fittings.

I could give the pipe individual item numbers and then it would display the length in the BOM, but I would rather have the PUP length displayed on the actual drawing.

Yes. There is a feature of isometrics called cut piece list that is what I think you're looking for. You can set one of the option switches to turn on the cut piece list.

1. Open Project Setup->Plant 3D DWG Settings->Isogen Settings->Configure title block

2. Select your ISO type and enter to "Setup Title Block..."

3. In the Block Editor enter to BOM Setup (the command: _ISOGENTBBOMSETUP)

4. In the "Setup Isogen Bill of Materials" in the upper part of window activate "Use type 1 bill of materials (BOM)"

5. OK->Close Block Editor-Save

6.Enter: Project Setup->Plant3D DWG Settings->Isogen Settings->Labels

7. Select your Iso type

8. Activate "Cut piece list" and OK

Using the cut list only but labels onto the sheet though it does not actually specify on the sheet what the individual lengths of the pipe are.

The best work around I have found for that is labelling each piece of pipe with a different Item code in the properties manager. This will then automatically display a list of different lengths of pipe in the BOM on the sheet it self.

In Iso for view cut list you need to configure the BOM list like default (1-5 pass from list that I wrote before).

My problem is that I want the PUP lengths on the actual ISO drawing. See attached PDF. That was done manually. I got the lengths of pipe from giving each pipe component a seperate item code.

I already know this is incompatible with AutoCAD settings because one of there technical support personnel has already told me so.

Also using Type 1 BOM takes away my ability to customize my BOM to the way my boss wants it. Is there a way to show the the cut list without using type 1 BOM, and more importantly to customize it. I would want the length of the pipe to be uo near the top with the dsecription of the pipe.

I had a costumeized BOM list, After I use 1 bill of BOM,, now my Costumemized BOM is gone. Do You know how to recover it? or any ideer?

Turn in block editor of your ISO type and change the default settings to settings that you had before. 4th pas in the list. But Cut pipe list only appear in the "1 bill of BOM"

Are you needing to display dimensions from weld point to weld point? (see example below)

How you do to display correct angle of elbows? For example 25º angle, in plant in default settings the angle of 25º indicate like 155º.

I have been looking through the ISO dimensioning options I can not seem to find it if it exists.

I'm not sure if Jason and I have similar methods, I did it by modifying the isoconfig.xml file and adding an Anchor Point called Weld.  In truth, I just copied the Field Weld, and changed it to read Weld under the locating type dimension.  This will dimension from every weld to every weld.

I tried that and it seems to work. I replaced field with Shop.

This is what I insert underneath the string dimensions

It seems to work with one of my projects. The other projects when I try to create an ISO is says something about an invalid output directory. Could this be because one of them is a regular database (the one that works) and the other is a SQL Express database (the one that does not)?

I tested mine on a SQLLite as well, could be an issue, I'll look into it more and let you know.

The change in the XML script did not affect the project I was in but when I created a new project based off that project it did display the measurement pbetween welds.
