Hello, colleagues!
I have problem with pipe socket.
I need to draw a PVC pipe. To do this, I created a new component. As a prototype component form I chose the pipe with socket, shown in the attached file "pic. 1. SpecEditor". I've made the settings (dimension settings are also visible in the screenshot), added new component to the spec sheet. But when I started to draw this pipe in Plant 3D, I found that newly created pipe has no socket, which I wanted to see. Also, I noticed that the beginning of the pipe body doesn't coincide with the beginning of its axis (see. "Pic. 2. P3D"). After measuring, I found that this difference equals the length of the socket portion. Consequently, the socket portion of the pipe is not displayed for some reason.
I suppose, this is a problem in the OF parameter in SpecEditor, which is responsible for the generation of the wall thickness. For some reason, pipe is always drawn with a wall thickness regardless of the value of OF parameter. I hope, if a drawing of the pipe will be without generating wall thickness, the socket will appear.
Please, help me to find a decision of this problem!
Thanks in advance!
I suspect you are correct regarding the OF parameter. Try setting OF with a value of -1.
Thank you Ken! I've tried setting OF with a value of -1. It doesn't work too.
Hi,
I was just dealing with similar issues, so a few years late but I'll give my 2 cents, so anyone else who comes across this post can have a little more guidance.
I found by changing the length to -1, so the software treats it as a "Real Pipe", and setting a fixed length allowed for socket generation.
To still have lengths made 2000 long, set the fixed length to 2000.
When you add it to spec make sure you tick use fixed length.
Lastly I'll note that having connection settings that'll form a joint is important for the routing of the pipe too. So initially when I started double checking for you I had 2x Undefined End Types. By changing them to SO and PL it worked.
As an aside, on the double-port equivalent of the pipe if you wanted to have only one socket you had to generate socket 1, if you didn't generate socket 1 socket 2 wouldn't generate.
I'll further note that I found that OF had no impact on the pipe generation - whether a positive value, 0, or -1
