Problem getting correct end connection valves plant 3d when using P&ID line list

I have trouble getting a valve with correct end connection when placing them from P&ID linelist.

From the image below, the P&ID if i insert gate valve 1 with buttwell and another with flange connection. Then in Plant 3d, i insert the valves from the P&ID linelist, It just places the default valve from spec if more than one option available for the same type of valve.

Then i run validation check for the drawing, it didnt show any error for the types of valves that i have put in.

Any solution to this?

The valve end type is determined from the part use priority in the spec.

Hi,

The real issue here is that it is not possible to exactly specify a one-to-one match through the P&ID Object Mapping in Project Setup.  You can only match the general type of valve (gate, ball etc), and then you are restricted to a limited set that are pre-defined in Project Setup.

In your example, you will always get the default gate valve from your spec, regardless of the end connections specified in the P&ID.  Unfortunately, the end connections property field from the P&ID is correctly copied through to the 3D valve regardless of which type of gate valve is placed in 3D; thus the validation will not fail.

Thank you for the information.

So currently there isnt any solution or a work around for this? I still need to do a manual check?

The workaround is to fix your spec.  The P&IDs are not linked to the piping specs, so the piping specs should be right the majority of the time since that is what is going directly in the model.  But, yes, if they differ, you will have to do a manual check.
