Preliminary Skid Design

I am running the plant design suite 2015 and am working on trying to get a good BIM model put together for our bid package. I am pretty new to this program although I have previous AutoCAD and Revit experience. I just have a fairly simple air compressor skid to put together but my question is, should I begin with AutoCad structural detailing first to get the base structural members and then export that into Plant 3D for the equipment and piping? If thats how I should go about thi, then is there a way to export it into another autodesk product to get a good rendering view of the skid?

Any guidance on the best way to work through this would be appreciated.

Plant3D itself has a basic structural modelling package which would be a good starting point IMO.
