Plant3D file corrupted

A co-worker suddenly had a file start generating errors on him. It ended up doing the error where the components drop all their properties.

He tried to remove the file from the project and bring in the back-up file.  When he does so, he gets this message:

Error occurs while trying to open the following drawing(s). Please make sure that the drawing(s) is valid and that  it(they) is not opened in another process.

Any suggestions?

He is running 2013 Plant 3D?

I will also add that all computers on the network including the server have been rebooted with no luck.

I just tried bringing in a copy of the file to my 2015 Plant 3D and received the same error.

Was the backup file a .BAK file or was it a prior working backup of a DWG file? If it was a BAK file then it most likely was already corrupted as well and that is why it is failing to be placed back into the project.

You could try to remove the drawing from the project. Then close all drawings in the project and run AUDITPROJECT and then PLANTAUDIT. Then close the project and close Plant 3D. Then open Plant 3D, open the project, run the AUITPROJECT and then PLANTAUDIT again and then try to bring the drawing back into the project.

I've had the exact same thing happen to me.

I am working in Plant 3D 2017.

I have tried your suggestion and it has not solved the problem.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions or solutions. I'm in a bit of a pickle here.

Many thanks

Cristina

You can try copying some of it to a new file a see if it changes anything.

FYI in case your server backs up. Our server backs up everyday. I have had to go back a day or two and restore an old version. Lost some work but it's better than nothing.

Thanks so much for your response.

I have tried copying it to a new file and a new project as well and nothing helped.

In the end, I restored a previous version of my model from our server backups. I did lose some work, minor though.

As you said, it's better than losing everything.

Thanks again.
