Plant 3D Crashes while opening a project on SQL Server

I have set up a project on an sql express server. I have access to it as well as another person on a separate machine in our office. However when I try to open the project on one user's machine I get a fatal error every time. I have repeated this 5 times in a row. I have also tried clearing the local data chache and that did not help. It seems to be isolated to one user's machine. He can open projects not on a SQL even when they are on a network server but the program crashes when he tries to get to the SQL server project. Any ideas what may be causing this?

Thank you

I would check the following:
• log in to the machine under your account and try to open the project.
• verify that the failed user rights/groups match successful user rights.
• verify the PC is on the domain.

It sounds like the second computer does not have a connection to the SQL database.  Open the SQL Server Management Studio on the computer that is not connecting and check that SQL instance for your Plant 3D.  In additional to the previous suggestions, please review the whitepaper located here:

How to configure Microsoft SQL Server for AutoCAD Plant 3D projects

(If this answers your question, please mark it as an Accepted Solution).

Martin,

I tried all of the suggestions you have given me and none of those have remedied the situation. I am now getting the error below when trying to connect to the sql server. Any ideas would be great.

I could be wrong but the error looks like a permissions issue. Can they see the database (or any instances on that server) outside of Plant3D? Is anyone else from their group able to access the project?

You might want to try moving them into your group in AD (temporarily) just to see if the issue is with their group. If they can access it, you know there is a problem with the group. If they still can't, maybe they don't have permission to the server?

Hello

try repair Microsoft.NET Framework (go to control panel-add uninstall programs-find framework-dubble click-restart configuration)

if this doesnt work pls

delete it

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2015\R20.0\enu\GraphicsCache (delete all)

and

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\PLNT3D, find aplication "PnPLocalDataCachePurger.exe" run it and purge all

when still doesnt work

unistall all Plant software (ALL !!) becouse this error its probably means that something do with Frameworks. and whole packet of Plant have C++ and frameworks install

have same situation in my client today (Global problem ?)

hope to help

It is kind of funny this topic has gotten a few more comments, I just solved it yesterday! Turned out to be a ram issue on the machine itself. I tried Isolated him, checking his credentials, changing his credentials, and checking the connection but none of it solved the issue. He could connect to the SQL server outside of plant just not in it. We did a memory scan and almost immedietaly we were getting errors. We ended up replace his ram completely, repairing the install and this solved the issue. I appreciate the responses and hope this can help someone else down the line.

Awesome! Quick question, did you try to repair the install before you switched out memory?

Yes we tried the repair. We also did a complete uninstall and reinstall of the complete design suite and niether method fixed the issue.

Thanks, glad to hear you were able to resolve it. I hate the weird ones. 😉
