Plant 3D 2014 Extension 1

After installation of Extension 1. we are no longer able to create Ortho views with the information showing in the view on existing projects. When we create a new project with the Extension 1 installed we then are able to create views and all of the information appears in view as it should.

Does this mean that only on new projects this Extension 1 will work?

Concerns, Jim

No. Extension 1 should on existing projects. If you want to use the new BOM on Ortho feature, you will have to add some annotations, but the other ortho features should work exactly the same before and after Extension 1 is applied.

Select one 3D model drawing in particular in the existing project where you are unable to create an Ortho. Here are a few things to try:

__Check all the xrefs in that drawing, opening the originals, deleting any extraneous elements which may be out beyond the model. Audit each drawing.

__Try using an Ortho Master drawing which only contains the pertinent xrefs and is used only for generating orthos.

__Try taking the 3D drawing and xrefs that are currently unable to generate an ortho and copy them into a new project. Try running ortho there.

Look for other things that may have happened or changed, perhaps inadvertently. It may be that Extension 1 is not really the culprit here.

I just posted a new thread on this before I saw this one. I am working with a single model for the project. Regarding the suggestions.
a. I have tried with two project with the same results on both. On project is one that I have had no problem creating an ortho view from before.
b. I copied to a new project and that seems to work. Not sure why an old project that had worked previously would now fail.

Alright, more testing done.

I created a new project (default settings) and was able to copy the drawing in and it worked.

When I copied the settings of the prior project, it would not work.

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far.

After some further investigating I have found that Extension 1 has challenges with (at least) creating Orthos only on existing projects we have on the SQL Server.

If we create a new project with Extension 1 loaded on the SQL Server it all seems to work just fine.

I can copy the files from the SQL server and put them on a new project that was created on the SQL server and that works, but it takes time to do this.

Thanks again.
