.PCT Cataloges

Hi,
I have just purchased the 3D plant. It would appear like many other piping packages it leaves the end user to waste time & effort creating what appears to be standard piping components so they can use the program. I believe some of the MEP.pct files can be imported into 3D plant - are they available & what do they include?
I need to set up a carbon steel spec for using in the UK with API5L pipe & fiitings etc etc (no problem all within the cataloge) but with flanges to PN16 etc etc slip-on, weld neck (sch 40 etc etc) etc - not all the items are in the Din catalog. Also I need the option of BSPT screwed fittings 150# & 3000# etc
Is there an alternative .pct cataloge available which will minimise the set-up work required? This would eliminate the need for me & dozens of other potential users doing the same work?

Thanks
Gary

Gary,

It's our intention to provide complete sets of catalogs for most industries
eventually, but at the moment we have a limited set. We are not taking the
approach of expecting that you will build your own. There will be the
occasional specialized component that we won't have that you may need to
add.

It sounds like you've identified some missing components in our catalog, but
it's not clear to me which ones. Can you provide a list of what we don't
have that you need?

i find some components are not available in the catalog. like the API valves.
AP3D would be better if you have all the basic Components loaded in the catalog.

for reference, try to see the program called PIPEDATA Pro. http://www.pipedata.com/
its is a program which shows the dimensional details of a Piping component.
Bentley, Aveva, Alias, are one of the top users of this software.

hope that all components there (pipe data pro) will be loaded on the next realease.

Hi,
From the forum pages it can be seen that one of the guys is already producing the flanges to EN 1092-1 specs - this is the thing we expect AutoCAD to furnish - I am not sure if he will make it available to others.
AutoCAD should furnish the following catalogs within the next few weeks so we as a piping community give the package a good work-out:
Flanges to EN 1092-1 (including the weld-neck flanges for Sch pipework)
Screwed fittings 150# & 3000# BSPT - this would bean easy addition for yourselves as they would be copied from the ANSI specs.

What about the already made MEP.pcat files are they available & what do they include?

Is AutoCAD intending to set-up a site where we can access a range of .pcat files for general use?

Thanks
Gary

Autodesk is considering offering updated catalogs in our subscription sights. We will be also adding more content in every release. We are working multiple avanues to create new content to fit the plant industry.

We will also have more information on how to convert MEP content to Plant 3D in the near future.

Users can use Imperial and Metric catalog content in the same spec. Even though the data is metric and imperial, the project established the units. So the good news is if you need items from the ASME or AME catalogs you can pull them into your DIN specs.

Is there documentation of converting MEP 2011 plumbing content to Plant 3D 2014?

if so would 2014 plant 3d be able to model 3D No-hub soil pipe plumbing lines and fittings?
