Well I am having a problem. I am using Plant 3D. Fairly new user and I am having some trouble with the ortho drawings that are being created. The ortho drawings used to have green for the pipe, red hidden centerlines, and different line weights. Now I have all the lines are black. It acts like it is resulting all lines to the 0 layer. Not sure how to fix the issue and pretty sure it is a setting in my property manager but unsure. Any help would be much appreciated. I have attached pictures of the problem.
You can change the ortho layer settings in the project settings:
Ortho DWG Settings/Title Block and Display
click on Setup Title Block
and then Ortho Settings
and then you can assign different layers to the different components.
I have tried that but there is another issue there. All of the layers are set to the 0 layer and will not allow me to alter them. My only available options in this menu is if I want to check the "Use 3D model layers" and whether to "Designate small bore piping as less than and including:". The default styles will let me change them but not really going to help me there. I do have many layers if I click the layers property button but the "Ortho Components" will not let me select anything. The drop down bar for selecting a new layer for each component will not drop down!
Any other options to try?
Thank you,
Ok, so I have determined that the issue is with the layer setting and have found that some of my layers have disappeared. The main ones that have disappeared is the "Top (PLAN) View-PIPING". I do realize that I can create this layer but should I be doing this on each set of drawings? Usually this was a default view and not sure how I have changed it? Any suggestions?
Thanks everyone for any help you can give!
Well, it is a known bug.
First close the project or quit the P3D.
Then if you go into your project folder and then Orthos you should see 3 folders:
DWGs, Orthocube Library, Styles
If there is only the DWGs than you go into that and move the Orthocube Library and Styles folder out of it.
Then start the P3D again and you should be able to change the ortho layer settings.
What does it mean when AutoCAD says, "Template drawing orthotemp.dwt is not on file. Using Defaults." I am suspecting that this is also causing my issues but unsure!
Thanks,
ctaylor
I suspect something is still wrong with the folder paths as Attila mentioned. Please check the following:
1. The "Ortho drawing template (DWT)" and "Ortho drawing output folder (DWG)" paths should be set to the correct path for your project:
2. The Orthos folder in your project should look like this:
C:\ProjectName\Orthos
\DWGs
\Orthocube Library
\Styles
OrthoSymbolStyles.dwg
orthoTemp.dwt
\Styles\Default
Ortho - D -Color Dependent Plot Styles.dwt
Ortho - D -Named Plot Styles.dwt
OrthoConfig.xml
You may have to create a new Plant 2014 project to get the proper files for the Ortho folder, and then copy those into your current project structure. Just be sure to backup what you already have before trying that method.
Ok so I have been trying the things mentioned but everything seems fine. Folders are were there supposed to be and setting are correct except.... I started a new project and copied settings from another drawing. I then proceeded to produce a test model in order to change a few settings in my template because I am not sure of another way to alter one of my dwt drawings (trying to set up the new BOM with settings that are formatted for my drawings instead of changing settings everytime). Anyways, when I looked at my template it had, "Plant 3D ANSI-Color Dependent Plot Styles.dwt". This is probably why some layers did not show up properly. From there I clicked the box to the side and changed to the template that we use for all of our drawings. Then the small page POPS up saying, "UNKNOWN ERROR PnPCompletionStatus.TableDoesNot Exist ([table-name=<PnPDwg2d-ViewDef>)]"
Any suggestions? I believe this is why I have been having troubles with the ortho line properties but could be way off!
Thanks in advance for any help!
I just created a new project in P3D2014 and did not use the copy settings from an exisiting project. My Orthos folder is:
Orthos\DWGs
Orthos\Orthocube Library
Orthos\Styles
Orthos\Styles\Default
Jason, your list looks like you are saying the \Default folder should be off of Orthos and not off of Orthos\Styles. So, is mine right or yours?
Hi Dennis,
My apologies. I just corrected the post.
The default folder is be under the styles folder.
The "PnPCompletionStatus.TableDoesNot Exist" typically show up if you copy a drawing into a project from an existing project that has custom classes added to it. It can also occur if there has been a crash or some failure during the drawing save or the project drawing was overwritten by a backup copy.
The drawing contains a different copy of the database "blob" which contains a copy of a database schema that doesn't match the current project.
One method which might correct the issue:
1. Set PNPDWGDATABASEBLOBMERGE system variable to OFF
2. Close the drawing
3. Open the drawing again
4. Save the drawing.
After that PnPDWGDATABASEBLOBMERGE can be set to ON again.
Has there been any sort of methodology that will resolve this issue? this is really affecting our workflow.
Here's an example of what's been happening:
It does not render view-piping/view-center/view-hidden layers. It simply does a view-0 all as one entity so I cannot get rid of the solid center line.
the only thing I can think of is that its rendering as small bore but I have it set to 3/8". I've attempted all the things the previous posts have said and still I get this.
This has started happening a few days ago and we are baffled as to why this is happening. Does anyone have any input?
thanks in advance!

update:
It looks like all the layers had gotten purged out in the dwg template settings and I had to reset all the layers in the ortho generation. Looks like this did the trick.
What gets me is that it was just fine before but for some reason it reset all to zero, which wrecked havoc on all my orthos.
Hi Everyone, Plant 3D comes with pre defined layers assigned to elements.
How could I make Plant put automatically all dimensions in a layer called Dimensions?
Thanks
Hi,
This is an old post, in the future it might be better to create a new post.
For isometric drawings you can go to project setup -> Isometric DWG Settings - Title block setup and set the dimensions layer in the Iso Themes dialog.
For ortho drawings you can set the layer for dimensions with basic AutoCAD functionality. (go to the annotate tab in the ribbon and set the layer there - or use the DIMLAYER system variable). This setting is saved in the drawing, so if you save it in your template it will always function correctly for each new ortho drawing.
