I am having problems with generating ortho views.
Any elbow/bend that isn't square or perpendicular to the view will not show correctly in 2D. This is really frustrating, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A sample would be nice. What version, etc?
It works for me just fine. Are you seeing the hidden lines - you can turn those off either by turning off the layer or choosing not to show them in the first place.

I am using plant 3D 2014.
I have created my own spec/catalog for stainless metric tru bore pipe (only for the size that I require for this project) with lap joints/stub ends, flanges, etc.
The fittings are placed in the model with no error messages, although I haven't added the valves to the spec as yet (as you can see by the drips on the attached image).
I have attached two images which might help explain the problem that I am having. The elbow that is "turned" down will not show in the 2D ortho view. This is happening on all the elbows/bends that are turned on the flange to allow for alignment with other pipework.
The elbows are not turned to a specific angle eg. 22.5 deg, 45 deg etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
After some testing.....
It appears that our 3D model is so far away from 0,0 that Plant 3D can't process all the data. When we recreate the pipe route closer to 0,0 we no longer have the missing elbow issue.
This is definitely a bug that would need fixing. I believe this is an issue that will crop up with a lot of random issues if your model strays too far from 0,0. Unfortunately to efficiently coordinate with other disciplines we often will have our models in "real world" coordinates and not just at 0,0. I hope Autodesk will explore this problem for future versions. It would be nice to get an explaination for this requirement to be close to 0,0.

The only way we could make it work correctly was to move our site model closer to 0,0. This seem to solve our problem.
In this particular project site is rather big and when something is close to 0,0,0 others are way far, beside we have quite a few civil, mechanical and piping drawings and can't afford moving it all. We are still waiting for a solution from Autodesk since April, together with this other bug of AP3D 2015

I am also having the same issue. My issue is a little more complicated though. I did a big job that had a lot of skewed pipe and trimmed elbows and everything worked fine. No issues really. But that was about 8 months ago. Recently I got into one of the orthos to add a filter system and when I updated the ortho, all my elbows that were not square to the world disappeared, and all the elbows that were turned down, had circles in them like it was trying to create a hidden line or something.
Please help!

I have the same problem with CAD 3D plant 2017, and I do not know how to solve it
The reason behind my elbows not showing up correctly was due simple from my model being too far away from 0,0,0. For your future models, in the beginning, take a couple digits off of the front of the coordinate you are suppose to use. For example, if the column row you are starting at is at East 1,560,058 ft, then take the 1 and the 5 off to make it 60,058 ft. Same with your North coordinates.
Basically, you create your project base point that gives reasonable numbers in the WCS; rather than "knocking off a couple of leading numbers" I recommend choosing something rational and easy to locate, such as a corner of an outlying building. If there really isn't a convenient point to work from, borrow a concept from some Revit designers: a small "monument" object with unique dimensions in each axis (1 x 4 x 9, for example) at your base point. Every model gets the same monument in the proper location, so when everything is brought together its obvious if something's out of place or not oriented properly.
If you later want "true" plant coordinates per the area survey then you can construct a named UCS to read appropriate values. Surveyors *must* work from control points/monuments/etc.; thankfully in the mechanical design world we don't have to do that.
Is there a fix for this issue yet (Plant 3D 2017) as I'm having the same issues. I cannot move my origin to work around the problem with my project. Is there a Hotfix available that we need? Straight on views of fittings are fine. It's the skewed views of fittings that are not showing in our ortho sheets. Thank you.
Its an AutoCAD problem, not a Plant3D problem.
Best thing to do is to always work as close to 0,0 as possible. If you need world coordinates on Isometrics, then adjust the XY values in the Project Setup.
