Richos,

Not that I know of.

We've had others ask for this and it's on our enhancement list, along with mitered elbows.

My suggestion would be to put in an elbow and mark it as existing, so it doesn't appear in the iso BOM.

I would also make this suggestion.

I have been asked this also, and one suggestion was to make an elbow with no geometry on it. If its a mitred bend with a known angle, then you could make your own mitred bend with no geometry and the connect points at the known angle, with a minimal distance from the centre, if that makes sense.

The other is to maybe use an existing mitred bend, make it a 2 piece mitre with minimal dimensions from the centre to the end, so in the model, it looks right. If you were really keen, you could give it a new blank (or a dot) SKEY, and you would make it existing so that it doesn't appear in the BOM's

Sence the dates on these posts are old, I would like to re ask the question. Is there a way to create a miter joint in a pipe without creating a miter elbow? ex.. miter two pipes and have one miter weld.

Has this been enhanced yet Peter Quinn?

It is now 2017.

Are we able to Mitre pipe in Plant 3D and get it to appear in the Isometric.

CadWorx could do a great job 12 years ago so I am thinking by now Plant 3D can do something similar. I notice that the senior Product Manager said it was on their enhancement list back in 2010.

I have found a lot of stuff is on the enhancements list but they never get added. I wish they would explain why they aren't added rather than just let us keep hoping they will be added. It seems like very few items get added each year. I love the program and the support but the development is really lacking. No innovative new features each year. For a relatively new soft ware that's upsetting.

I was able to use the custom part to get this to work, not ideal but since we don't Mitre pipe too often it is a work around. The attached images show the result.

I converted the sloping pipe into a custom part, by first making it a block and then using PlantPartConvert I added the Ports, these are vertical and are not in line with the sloping pipe, see attached image. Next insert this object to replace the pipe in the model, change the Iso Symbol to TYPE=PIPE, I also added a couple of Iso Messages at the corners.

Interestingly the Isometric package has no problems handling the Mitre Bends it’s just I believe that you can’t make a connection between the different pipe parts in the model, love to be proved wrong.
