Migrate Custom XML files to upgrade to 2015?

We have made several changes to the isoconfig.xml file to get the output that we want. For example, we had to add intruments to appear in the BOM (why is this not a standard?) and for callout bubbles for them.

We are about to upgrade to 2015. Will migrating our standard project take care of this and other customizations? Or will I need to edit the 2015 xml files to incorporate our changes?

I think what you'll get is your customized isoconfig.xml unchanged in 2015. It will work as is. I believe when you first use it, any new strings that were added for 2015 will be added automatically. However, to be sure, you might use a utility like windiff or winmerge to compare your isoconfig file vs one of the delivered styles.
