isometric drawing in one sheet

I would like to create an isometric drawing for a small drawing using P3D 2012. However creating this using version 2012 will separating the drawing into few sheets. Is there any other way to make the drawing come out in one sheet?

depending on how many items there are in the line, it should split it up as it sees fit. Can you post a screenshot of the line?

are you sure you have all the parts connected?

I also can not do isometric to a single file, even with all parts connected is divided into several, and even with the option "Force iso onto one sheet" checked. There should be an option for the same total isometric with text overlaid.

please see the image file... fyi, i've created 5 segment of pipelines with the longest pipe length is 500

Why no further reply?

I have this problem too. In a Project with 16 lines,  lines was split into 140 sheets! Regardless of sheet size A3, A2 or A1.  I want components with same line number in one sheet. This make me and  our installation workers crazy!

It's a bug? Or some configuration wrong? Please give a response.

Don't  mention that options "force on one sheet". It doesn't work accurately. Don't ask me to check pipe connections. These fundamental issue we know already.

Why no further reply, because Autodesk have no answer to the problem, if they can’t give an answer to solve the problem they go quite. I have the same thing happening to my ISO, it seems to have a mind of its own. There are a lot of ISO blocks missing and SKEY in the xml file. So come on Autodesk pull your finger out and get it fixed, we have paid a lot of money for this and it don’t work and it’s doing my head in. 😞

You can make your own SKEY and Iso Blocks. I'm about to do a walk-through on it, but you can make your own SKEY entries in the catalog, which can be any combination of letters. From here, you make your own block representations, or use the existing ones, and make sure the mappings are ok in the Iso SKEY mapping file.

dave, what catalog are you using?

Firstly, I like to say thank you for you quick response, I put that reply in to get someone from Autodesk to reply, and it worked. The most annoying thing about Plant 3d is, that I think it is a great program, but it has a few small problems that need to be sorted out. So now we have your attention, can we have some answers to our questions?

  1. Created a production ISO of a pipe run, which was fine, issued the drawing, one drawing number. Then had to change some flanges to a different type. Reproduced the ISO on the same pipe run and it then split the pipe run into two drawings. This totally mucks up our drawing numbering system. WHY??

 2. I would like some information on how to create and modify the blocks in the

IsoSymbolStyles.dwg i.e. what ports are required and how they react, some have wipe outs in the blocks, what are they for and how to use them. And how they are skewed in the ISO drawing.

 3.  How to edit and configure the IsoSkeyAcadBlockMap.xml file.

It is the section in the file that controls the connections, the section below I have cut out of          the file:-

<!-- Begin: Connections -->

<!-- IgnoredOnConnectionPoint  Default to false. True to indicate the end type can be ignored in connection point in pcf but it needs to be created in isometric anyway-->

<!-- OnFitting Default to false.True to generate the end symbol anyway for the fitting even the fitting is not connected to other component(for example flange for flanged fitting).-->

<!-- ShowWeldDot Default to false. True to generate one extra weld dot at the connection point (To Implement)-->

I have flange adaptors and pipe coupling, which are push fit, so for the flange adaptor I copied and renamed a block in the IsoSymbolStyles.dwg to FlangePF, which worked fine. It is the connections, I cannot get my head round; in the ISO drawing, which is produced, a weld dot is put on the fitting.

I have tried several combinations from the statement above, but I the weld dot keeps appearing on the ISO drawing.

I just need an explanation in plan easy steps to follow, some Caddy’s of a mature nature, the grey matter doesn’t soak up new technology as quick.

We need some detailed help information on all the configuration setting for this program, I don’t mind setting it up but I seem to be wasting a lot of time trying to without the information to do it, and time is money.

I have a few more issues but, I think that will do for now.

Please not forget about us, we need answers to our questions so we can do our jobs.

Kind Regards

Dave

1. Not sure on that one.

2. In the Project Manager, right click on the Project, go to Properties, and then scroll down the bottom to the Isometrics Section. Expand it, and go to the last section marked "Title Block and Display". On that dialog, there is a section marked "Display" and then a large button marked "Edit Isometric Symbols". Use this block editor to edit/make new symbols for your Isometrics. You draw them in 'flat' 2D mode, and then Isometrics will skew them for you

3. I wouldn't rename blocks, you should perhaps start with a block already made, then save it as a new block name. Once that is done, then edit the mapping file, and add the new SKEY and Blockname to that mapping xml file, for example: <SkeyMap SKEY = "FLPF" AcadBlock ="FlangePF"/>

That should be it for now. From one of the other threads, if you don't have an SKEY in the catalog (be it from a parametric part, or a custom part) then Isometrics won't draw it, and depending on where it is, it will split it in two. It might help to also have a 'tinker' project that you can test out your theories without damaging a production project.

this is all fairly easy for 2 port items,

now it would be nice if we could get some help for making custom iso symbols for valve actuators work without having all differnet skeys for valves.

I am designing a new piping system for one of our plants. There are three units, two are similar and one his opposite hand. I created a model of one of the units, copied it, and mirrored it. Everything seemed to be hunky-dory until a came to the isometrics. With much pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth I was able to reduce the number of drawings to two for the non-mirrored model, but the mirrored model requires four drawings. It makes no difference which isometric view I choose it still makes the same four drawings. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

FYI

Autodesk® AutoCAD® Plant 3D 2014 Extension 1

Drawing Congestion Splitting

Level of Congestion to Split Iso at

Specifies a preference for the number of objects allowed in an Iso drawing sheet compared to the number of sheets generated.  Setting a High congestion level will result in fewer sheets, with more objects on each sheet.

Override Iso Splitting

Force Iso onto One Sheet

Creates a single sheet regardless of the resulting congestion, if possible. If this cannot be done, the iso will split rather than fail to generate.

Split Iso when Property Changes

Changes sheets when any of the specified model property values change.

I hope this help

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for a few days. It sounds like that
all the parts are not connected. Try this - click on the pipe do a right
click with the mouse button select All connected parts, everything that is
connected should now be highlighted, If not then that is why they show up on
separate drawings. I hope this helps

I attached a photo from my drawing .

Thank you
