Installation of spec editor 2014 after plant 3d is installed

Hello,

I installed Plant 3d 2014 on a pc for one of my colleages a few months ago without the spec editor.

In the meantime he has grown expirience with the software and i wanted to install the spec editor afterwards.

Is this possible? I can't find it anywhere in the current installation and when i try to install again it says plant is already installed.

Thanks in advance.

Default Plant 3D installer should install Spec & Catalog editor. Can you go to the following location and look for this file.

C:\Program files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2014\PLNT3D\SpecsAndCatalogsEditor.exe

If you don't see this exe file, do let me know.

Hello,

The exe file you specified is missing.
I know it is installed by default, but during the installation you can uncheck the box of the spec editor so it isn't installed along with plant 3d.
I unchecked that box and that's the reason it isn't installed. The problem is I can't get it installed afterwards.

Is the exe-file the only thing the spec-editor needs? Because than I can copy it from another pc where it is installed and put it in the directory you specified. Will this work?

As for as I see, its just an exe file which i highlighted . You may want to try copying it to the path i mentioned earlier.

If it doesn't work, you may need to consider doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of the product as there isn't anyway to install only spec editor after Plant installation.

Hello,

I copied the following files:
SpecsAndCatalogsEditor.exe
SpecsAndCatalogsEditor.exe.config
SpecsAndCatalogsEditor.resources.dll
Plant 3D 2014 Spec Editor.ink from the start menu.

This doesn't work.

Uninstalling plant 3d doesn't work because the uninstall gives an error "Invalid Drive K:\"
Searching the register for K:\ comes up with nothing.

Do you have an alternative solution?

Kind Regards,

I believe you have installed Plant 3D 2014 extension 1 as well. Can you try the uninstall as per the solution described here.

I haven't installed the extension because i can't get it to install.
I put a discussion on the forum for that as well.
With the installation of the extension I get the k:\ drive error as well.

It seems that you have a wrong registry entry here. Try to uninstall P3D using Microsoft FixIt: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=21891972&linkID=12305695
