Impossible to have correct orthographic views when plates are in the 3D model

Hello,

We are experiencing problems performing simple orthographic views in Plant 3D 2013 (French version) when there are "plates" elements: these elements are not displayed correctly in the orthographic drawings (see attached file "20130513 - vue du 2D - plaques NOK.PNG"), yet in 3D, these elements are displayed correctly (see attached file"20130513 - vue du 3D - plaques OK.PNG ").

Almost always when we have elements "plates" in 3D, orthographic views are not correct.

We tried several things: command AUDIT and PURGE on the 3D dwg file, command AUDITPROJECT and COMPRESSPROJECT on the project, but nothing helps.

Therefore, we cannot make correct orthographic views on our project which is a serious problem for us.

What is the solution to this problem?

We opened a ticket to the Autodesk Support Service via our subscription but the only response we got at the moment is that the problem is known (!) and that we are not an isolated case but they have not yet solution.

I am therefore calling to the forum and users if they have ideas.

Thank you in advance,

Best regards,

Alexandre Devos

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance,

Cordialement,

Alexandre Devos

Hello Monsieur Devos,

The plates were corrupted. I have repaired your drawings and could create a valid ortho drawing. The project is too big for the forum. I will send it to you separately. Here I have attached a snapshot of the result.

Please, inform me if this works for you.

Best regards

Hello Mr Gerstenberger,

Thank you for your response but which command should I use to "repair" the drawing ?

Best regards,

The only answer I hadfrom Autodesk Support Service is that we have to recreate manually all plates in our project which doesn't show correctly in orthographic views. Our project contains hundreds of plates !

Autodesk Support Service told me it will be now treated by the development department but who knows when will we have an answer that will permit to have correct orthographic views.

Does other users experiments similar problem with 3D objects not correctly shown in orthographic views ?

Plant 3D doesn't seems to be a mature software and you are thinking of changing for something else. We cannot continue with a software that is sold for featurees that doesn't work.

Thank you in advance for you answers,

Alexandre Devos

Need solution, this issue is an irritating one. We have more than 300 plates in plant3d, not a correct solution to edit manually in ortho. This is an intelligent software not a raw Autocad.

Arun,

I agree with you : Autodesk should release a hot fix ASAP.

Don't hesitate to create a case in your Subscription Center so Autodesk knows lot of people have the problem and need a solution.

Regards,

Alexandre

Yes, I had logged a case in 2013 release itself, again a new case is created. Looking for Autodesk reply for this issue.

Hi

We have the same problem but with  L profiles as well as with plates .
I found that for L profiles the displacement of the profile is exactly the same all over the project, and also in the same direction.
The size of the unwanted displacement is 28.68421053 mm , upward.

Now that I know that it always the same size, the simple (but frustrating) solution is to lower the profile/plate in 28.68421053 mm downward from the elevation it's supposed to be .

Anyone who has this problem - please check that it is the same measurement. Maybe it will help Autodesk to find and correct this problem.

For the plates we are using the footing command "_PlantSteelFooting" which gives us good results

regards,

Elad.
