Hello all,
I am a newbie to the forum and to AP3D. My question is this: Is it possible to import parts (custom tanks, valves, etc) into AP3D to be used in the 3d routes?
You certainly can. You can use the built-in dialogs to built custom parts, or import AutoCAD Blocks and make them as custom parts, for Piping, Equipment, Pipe Supports.
after re-reading my post, i realized that i was a lot more specific in my mind that i was on my post. Can i import step or iges files to be used intelligent (Ex. the program realizes that a flange goes here when the tube route touches it.)
My only experience with tube routing is with Solidworks. In Solidworks, i could import a model from the manufacturer place it exactly as it would be placed actually. While it made some awesome looking models, it's no where near as comprehensive from what i've seen in the short amount of time ive using AP3D.
What I am sure is, you can convert to DWG your Step or IGEs file first, then you can convert in to Plant 3D easily and use it on your routing.
