How can I add a support to a valve?

Hello

How can I add a support to a valve, so that I can see the support in an isometric?

Thanks

Is the support part of the valve or another itemised part?

If its a separate part, you can place a pipe support on a valve, as you would normally on a pipe.

Hello

I've tried some options:

1. I create an own support in a catalog and include it into the spec and place it to the valve: I get an open end (waterdrop) and two isometrics, one with the support only

2. I include an existing support (Alignment guide) into the spec and place it to the valve: same behavior like 1.

3. I use '_PlantPipeSupportAdd' in the model and place also the 'Alignment guide': everything works fine

What shall I do? I need own supports.

best regards

Hi Guido,

You have to do this on a different way because supports are special and have his own spec. Try this:

  • Open in the spec editor the 'Supports catalog metric.acat' or the 'Supports catalog.acat' (depends what for units you want) from the <ContentFolder>\CPakCommon.
  • Add here your new component. For the field 'Iso Symbol Type' type the value 'SUPPORT'. For the SKEY enter for example ANCH but this depends for the symbol that you want here. Look here in the IsoSkeyAcadBlockMap.xml which block is associated with the SKEY and look in the IsoSymbolStyles.dwg how the blocks are looking.
  • Now you have to add this new component to the PipeSupportsSpec-spec in the same folder. This spec will be copied into the subfolder 'spec sheets' if you create a new project. If you want to add this new component to an already existing project, just open this spec from the project and add the component here.
  • Now use the dynamic tool palettes for supports to add this support to a valve. If the size is known there is no more waterdrops here and you can create an isometric drawing. Because it is a dynamic tool palette, latest after closing and opening the project, the new component can be seen and used here. See attached snapshots for the results.

Please, inform me, if I could help you here.

Bernd

Hi Bernd,

that's the solution! Thanks.
