If a project is started in Plant 3D can someone with a seat of AutoCAD P&ID only, access that project to edit the P&IDs? Does it update the correct database or do they need to be separate projects?

All you need to do is use the Open Project command in P&ID and point to the project.xml in the root project folder. Should work fine.
There is however a problem to be aware of when you upgrade to a new version. Any project that was ever opened in Plant 3D cannot be migrated using just P&ID. It must be migrated using the full Plant 3D versiom. Just an FYI

Yes, a Plant 3D project which contains P&ID drawings can be opened in a standalone version of P&ID and the P&ID drawings can be edited. Just make sure the user knows only to make P&ID changes and do not edit any of the Plant 3D information. Any project setup modification should be done in Plant 3D and not in the standalone version on P&ID.

Quentin,
Can you elaborate on not doing configuration changes in P&ID under these circumstances? We modify the setup of a project all the time in P&ID and since our template projects originate on a machine using full Plant 3D are you saying this will cause a problem? We have not seen any problems as long as we confine the changes to P&ID and general project setup items.
