Hi, I'm currently engaged in using Autocad Plant 3D 2013 as part of my work. We use "pipe bend" toggle in order to simulate pull-bends in pipe, and we can only operate at specific radiuses depending on the size of the pipe. Currently everytime we lay such a bend we need to manually edit the bend to obtain the correct radius, which is quite tedious if you're laying a long run. Is there anyway to change the default values for pipe bends in Autocad Plant 3D? I've been told my people more senior in my organization that it's not possible, but I've already seen the program automatically changing the radius of the bend depending on the size of the pipe.
Thank you for your time.
I had exactly the same issue with the pipe bend. In the 2013 version I could not find the solution.
I went through even the catalog editor, I checked all cataloges..., nothing!
We have the 2014 now, I have to look again, but I am afraid that the pipe bend routine remained the same.
Only change made that we can now calculate the weight.
Look for Metric_PipeBendDefaultValues.txt in the project root directory.
Hmmmm!
It should work, but it does not!
I tested. Closed the project, changed the values than I reopened the project and the bend remained the same.
Maybe the problem is that I use inch base pipes, not metric.
Is there a table for that too?
Hi,
Yes, there is one for Imperial as well.
"PipeBendDefaultValues.txt" is the filename.

I tried using the toggle pipe bend feature and model looks good. But when I generate isometric drawing, I noticed that bend symbol is not curved. Where Can I change the symbol for bend? I check the Project Setup Isometric symbol, it seems correct. (see screenshot below)
Thank you.
You can change it in the isoconfig.xml file in the Iso style folder:
<!-- Bends and elbows configuration --> <!-- 'Bend': Can be 'Round' or 'Square'. --> <!-- 'Elbow': Can be 'Round' or 'Square'. --> <BendElbow Bend="Round" Elbow="Square" />
FYI...there is now a GUI for pipe bends in project setup. no longer need to edit in notepad.
Do you by chance know how to do this in Revit?
In Revit all the parameters appear greyed out in the Properties (jpeg screengrab attached)
In Plant I am able to edit the default bend radius used for the specific diameter, but what I need in Revit is a 45 elbow part that is sized for 5 or 6 times the diameter (5D or 6D as shown in Plant 3D)
