Converting existing piping to lines?

Hi everyone,

We are busy with a duplicate plant but with different specs.

I know you can line to pipe, but is it possible to convert thos pipe lines back to plain lines/polylines for future pipes in a new specification?

Thanks! Would really appreciate any input.

As far as I know, you cant, you can only trace it by polyline/line if you want to have the result you want, well thats what i know.

I think that will be the only thing to do, but it's just weird that theres no such option. I mean, the intellegent lines are already there and just need to change to ordenary lines. O, well. Thanks  .

When a line is converted to a 3d piping, it loses its property as a poly line like it is deleted, thats what i know.

Yes, this is one wish list I too require, sometimes when I want to convert 100 NB to 25, it is not possible in plant 3d. That time I wonder, if some feature like pipe to line if there, it would simplify my remodel the whole. This feature is there in CADWORX.

There is an 'erase' option in the command line to not delete the line when converting to pipe. It would be nice to convert piping back to a line though.

If you're converting existing piping to another spec, why not just select it and change the spec in the properties?

We are waiting for the new spec from the client and want to continue with the rest of the plant civils, steelwork etc. The piping makes the drawing a bit slow. I did however end up taking all the piping to it's own sheet and added them as xrefs. Makes it a bit smaller. I will then just change the piping when we eventually receive the specs from the client.

Thanks guys! Appreciate all the help.

@ Tomislav: for spec change no issue, problem arises when converting BV end pipes to SW end pipes, say for example 100 NB to 25 NB.

needing a solution to this also, I need to export pipe to PL and add pipe sizes to the polylines. I use ortho annotate to apply pipe sizes but these can't seem to be exported or exploded. does anyone have a work around, tracing with a 3dpoly isn't an option I want to consider yet as i've over 7km of pipe.
