Compatibility with Bentleys AutoPlant XMProsteel product?

Hi there,

Inisys Africa is a VAR in South Africa (Johannesburg) and we have a loyal client who now wants to move from Bentley's Autoplant to P3D 2015.

Questions raised by the client are following:

  1. Which version of prosteel will work with P3D 2015?
  2. Can the existing prosteel 3D models be xrefed into P3D 2015 and used to create ortho drawings
  3. Will prosteel models open in Navisworks 2015?
  4. Is there an object enabler required for the Navisworks 2015 to represent prosteel models?
  5. Will prosteel models report a clash in Navisworks 2015?

Theres a lot of steel structures modelled already and to remodel them in Advance Steel or ASD is not really an option. There is functionality to export the prosteel models as acis solids but again this would be time consuming. Im looking for the most efficient route for the cleint to have the best result for his transition.

Regards

Bill Rice (bill.rice@inisys.co.za)

I'm currently trying to create an ortho view with an ProSteel structure load as xref, and even with the latest Bentley object enabler it do not work properly. Cut beams disapear completely instead of showing a beam section.

Do you have any tips that can help me out?

Thanks

P.S. I'm using AP3D 2014

This has to do with Bentley and their lack of support with the object enabler. If I remember correctly you can save the ProSteel model to AutoCAD solids. You do that first it should work in Plant 3D Ortho. Regards, Ken Fauver Sr Technical Sales Specialist - Oil & Gas Solutions 225.200.2496
