Looks like this selection needs a warning prompt! To test this, I duplicated a Part Family and left the default as "copy". I highlighted the new family in Catalog Browser, and then in Catalog Editor, I clicked on Delete Component. Yep, the Part Family was immediately deleted from the current catalog with no prompt to ask you if you're sure. If you accidentally hit this button and don't watch what you're doing, you've lost it. If you do notice, you have to use "Edit/Undo" to get the part back. Next issue of Plant 3D Catalog Editor should include a pop-up warning.
