Catalog Builder Validation issue

Hello Expert,

I am trying to build catalog for ID Pipe used in Paper and Pulp industry. When I try to import the excel file to after inputting all the parameter the validation come to about 90% and stays there for long time (4 hrs). I have to go and cancel the windows process to stop it.

Anybody else run into this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Samson Thomas

Hi Samson,

Which version of P3D are you running? 2013?

Could you outline your steps in a little more detail?  You’re starting this catalog in the Spec Editor correct? Then exporting to Excel and importing back from Excel?

Also, have you checked for Content Packs for this? Don’t forget the option to “Request a Plant 3D Content Pack” there at Plant Exchange as well.  http://autocad.autodesk.com/?nd=plant_content_packs

Hello Martin,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I got busy with our annual shutdown work.

Yes I was able to resolve this issue.

I was trying to create Fabricated ID pipe catalog generally used in Pulp and Paper Industry. I tried to create catalog with all the fittings and pipe defined together. Then I exported it to excel and changed OD, thickness and material spec only for pipe and then tried to import it back to catalog builder. That's when catalog builder was not responding.

I tired creating only pipe catalog (no fittings). Did exactly the same as before and imported it back and it works just fine. Then I tried elbow only and it also worked fine.

I have requested this catalog since 2011.

Thanks for you help.

Samson Thomas

Same problem, I edited a large excel file (modified long descriptions, add materials and change from imperial to metric), no components or sizes were removed, tried to put it back again using the catalogue builder, but it spend hours trying to validate, an nothing happened, what should I do?

Yes, I got the same problems, I did try to run on version 2016, 2017 and 2018.  I did try differents excel files. some times it did import but not all.  It's missing half of components, and some times it is jam, even I let it runs overnight. I was desperate, and now I modify directly into the original catalog. (what I did for trying: export from the catalog builder, then just modify the description, the length, the weight, I always very carefull in the excel file, not to add any column, just fill in the blank column, materials, etc. but it is not working).
