Bolting for Reducing Flanges

Anyone know how to handle bolting for a reducing flange? It's 3"x1". Needs to be studs on big side and tapped on the small side...

If you asking about creating a ‘custom’ reducing flange (or flanged reducer), I’d find one in the out-of-box catalogs that comes close to what you’re after and copy and edit that part accordingly.  Or you may find one that meets your needs as-is.

That's what I'm doing. I'm using the out of box reducing flange from the Resistoflex catalog. It just wont bolt up. Do I need to also add TAPPED type bolting to my spec? If so, do I just reselect my fastener once inserted in the model?

If the unmodified flange isn’t connecting, it may well be a problem with that Resistoflex catalog. It was pulled earlier this year and should be reposted soon.

As far as trying to get it to work before that new catalog update, you may want to try changing the end type to LFL. Additionally, if you have access to Extension 1 and not currently using, you may want to try that.

You also asked, “Do I need to also add TAPPED type bolting to my spec? If so, do I just reselect my fastener once inserted in the model?” I’d say give it a try and see.  And  if others in the discussion group have some experience with this, hopefully they’ll jump in too.
