Autodesk Plant design suite better than CADWORX

Today I attended a seminar organized by a local dealer in chennai for CADWORX 2014.

I find in number of ways Plant design suite is better than CADWORX, especially in the following:

1. Ease of creating the specification

2. Ease of routing

3. Viewing capability in Navisworks

4. Property display for intelligent items

5. Changing specs/size of pipe

6. Project properties and setup

7. Datamanager

There are some advantages in CADWORX like:

1. Direct bidirectional interfacing with CAESARII

2. Assembly set creation in Plant space for specified items (Like block funtion in Autocad), wherever user wishes those item can be placed. Example, drain lines with valves can be modelled and can be kept in assembly. Wherever, drain comes, the assembly can be called. This will reduce the time of repeat modelling and maintains uniformity.

3. Rule based O-let placement.

The first one can't come in Autodesk Plant design suite, but if developers lookinto the points 2 & 3 of above, then it ll provide similar advantage for Plant3d users also as the above are very nice feature.

I thank the plant developers for keeping the software on par with other softwares in short time.

Hi Arun,

Another key benefit over CADWorx is:

8.  The ease of pulling P&ID objects into the 3D model.
