AutoCAD Plant 3D and Bentley Projectwise

Can anyone confirm that Autocad Plant 3D works as part of Bentley's Projectwise?

I'm struggling to find ANYTHING on google!  Is anyone using them both together?

Cheers,

Matt

Plant 3D does not support Bentley's Projectwise

I'd like to expand on Ken's answer.

There's nothing in Plant 3D to explicitly support Bentley Projectwise. Bentley is free to support Plant 3D with Projectwise. If someone from Bentley wants to know more, I'd be happy to talk to them. Bentley has full access to our public APIs.

Thanks Peter, I'll speak to my Bentley contacts and see if I can pull you both together to work on this.

Any updates on this? I was going to contact our Bentley Rep with the same question.

Thanks

I'd like to keep this discussion of the need for ProjectWise to work within Plant3D current. It's 2017 and still has not happened. What is the best work-around that Plant3D users have found? Thanks in advance!

Has anything happened with this topic?

We have been trying to make AutoCAD P&ID, now Plant3D work on projectwise for three years now with projectwise.   Basically, we create a project outside of projectwise and then save an exported .dwg file to projectwise.   We backup the project folder which includes the flat file database and it's subfolders to projectwise.   Not an ideal solution, but it gets us through for now.

I think a possible solution is to setup a SQL express database that is hosted "somewhere" and then link to it somehow.  But, it seems P&ID must open several files simultaneously which is the real problem in projectwise.

Any thoughts on this?

What are you ultimately trying to achieve? Is this to collaborate within the company, offices, etc, or is it just something local to store the projects?

Company standard is to use projectwise for all projects.  This includes collaboration amongst remote offices, storage of project files and designs, and security of the designs.

Using Plant 3D on a normal network drive is no problem.  But, we cannot store project data outside of the projectwise system.   Ultimately, we want to open and close drawings as part of the P&ID projects within projectwise and make use of the intelligent features.  In the near future, we will need to sync our P&ID designs with Revit models created by other disciplines.

So, simply put, our goal is to use Plant 3D P&ID and get it to work within projectwise.  This is achievable with all the other Autodesk programs that we use (we use all of them).

Hopefully, I can figure something out, or we will be forced to abandon Plant 3D for some other solution.

Thanks for any help or thoughts you can provide.

Ah ok. If you *have* to use it then so be it. I was going to suggest looking at subscribing to BIM 360 Team which lets you host the projects in the cloud and then anyone can access the projects anywhere, anytime.

I woudl be interested to know if anyone has made this work, we are heading down the same path with Plant 3D and ProjectWise Integration.

I have know many customers to try to integrate Plant 3D with Projectwise basically unsucessfully. While there are some that have workflows to be able to comply with their document management requirements, they are managing the files manually after taking them outside of the Plant 3D project.
