Hi All,
we have started to write the Plant 3D advanced book (finally!!), and we think we got a pretty good idea what should be in there (see below for a overview of the chapters). I really would like to know if this is what you all are waiting for and if there are subjects missing in the book that you really would like to see in there. Remeber it is supposed to be an advaanced book so many advanced stuff will be in there, but we are not going into the API as this is more for programmers.
The planning is to have the book ready in about 4 till 6 weeks and it would also be interesting to know what you think such a book might cost....
Overview of the content;
chapter 1 - Setting up a project with project and drawing properties
chapter 2 - Layer and color schemes and how to use them
chapter 3 - Endconnections (existing and new)
chapter 4 - PnID object mapping (what can it do for you)
chapter 5 - Setting up tag formats for 3D components
chapter 6 - Creating orthographic annotations
chapter 7 - Setting up the Isometric environment (this will be a large chapter)
chapter 8 - Creating custom isometric symbols
chapter 9 - The spec and catalog editor
chapter 10 - AutoCAD Plant 3D reporter - how do i create my own reports....
These are by far the subjects we think should be in the book, if you have suggestions about other subjects, please drop me an e-mail and we will decide if it has to go in or that it belongs to a different course. Don't hesitate to sent in suggestions, we can use any comment.

Barend-Jan (BJ) van Zijtveld

I THINK THAT BY FAR THE LINE NUMBERING SCENARIO IS THE HARDEST TO GET RIGHT, SINCE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE/SET-UP IN TWO OR THREE PLACES, FOR THE ISO's, FOR THE ORTHO's AND FOR THE 3D MODEL AND EACH ONE BEING DIFFERENT.
Hi,
can you describe what you need?
Regards,
Carsten
Ps. I'm responsible for keeping the book updated.
In reference to Brian Lister's article of January 2014, http://www.davetyner.com/2014/01/autocad-plant-3d-how-to-customize-the-line-number-to-match-a-client... He sets up a linenumber/tag in the model which is pretty simple. Toward the end of the article he shows you how to set up the linenumber/tag for the iso's which is pretty complicated. if this could be discussed or an example made to make it easier that would be great. However, this still isn't all that has to be done. You still have to do some set-up/changes for the ortho and the p&id's. Which I haven't seen any discussion on yet.
Also along the same lines, trying to get the titleblocks filled in is a job in it self. Some of the variables/attributes don't come through so you make another one with a similar name. After all is said and done you have 2 or 3 attributes with the same info in them to get your title block filled out.
Hi,
I have some suggestions:
I would also be interested in such a book.
