Autocad component has stopped working

i keep getting this error message every 10 minutes or so when in Plant 3d (2013). program has not crashed YET but it is very annoying!

That does sound annoying. Does this happen only when Plant 3D is open? Or is it happening with other programs as well?

The files it lists do not appear to be P3D related. How about this: Make a back up of those files elsewhere and then delete the contents of that Temp directory. Does that make the message stop?

Its crazy, the files listed do not appear in the folder...

well my computer did start crashing. i uninstalled everything autocad (autodesk) related, deleted the folders in explorer, and cleared them from the registry. then did a fresh reinstall and it still pops up!

computer will crash once or twice a day and windows explorer and outlook will randomly stop working???

i am about to make a $3000 boat anchor.

Maybe some  virus/malware slipped in? Have you ran a check for that?

Any results with scanning for viruses or malware? Did that do the trick?

i ran my company virus scan over the weekend. when i go in this morning there were 0 issues.

i will say that the security is pretty tight around here and the IT dept is usualy on top of virus/malware issues.

It sounds like your IT dept has the malware threat covered, but it may not hurt to check yourself. I use SuperAntiSpyware, the Free Edition, and catch junk on my computer all the time: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Also, please clarify. Does the crashing occur with other programs? Gaming? Microsoft Word? Excel?

Try purging out the data cache. Close out of Plant 3D and any other AutoCAD related tools. Run the following utility. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2013 - English\PnPLocalDataCachePurger.exe

Try purging the Graphics cache. This is a data folder.  In Windows 7 the folder is located at:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2013 – English\R18.2\enu\GraphicsCache

(You should create a backup folder and move the contents of the cache to the backup folder).

It may very well be corrupt system files (perhaps compounded by the multiple crashes). Before you turn your computer into a boat anchor, do a check of the integrity of your Windows operating system.  Here are some directions on that: http://www.techulator.com/resources/3565-How-check-Integrity-Windows-system.aspx

And also check for critical updates to your Windows operating system.

Hopefully, one or more of these will get things back on track. Let us know.

i did everything you recommended in your last post and the error message still popped up. it seemed to only show itself once i opened Navisworks (with Plant 3D being open already).

sometimes outlook, windows explorer, and OneNote will crash, become not responding. usually when those programs start going out thats when Plant 3D will crash...the error message will pop up randomly and i just hit cancel and carry on but like i said once the other programs start crashing thats when Plant 3D crahses.
